LEGO is all about creativity, storytelling, and, as one progresses, advanced building techniques, and this bore of a book really has none of it.Regarding techniques, the only ones being shown are three ways to stack bricks (two of which are actually on the cover), and that's pretty much it. Don't expect to find any SNOT in this. The only detailed build, with a part list, is some quite simple house, that doesn't improve anything over the numerous LEGO houses that are already out there. After that, the rest is just some pictures and comments like "Oh look, you could do this with your LEGO bricks"...Also, the topics that are discussed are not really exciting. I don't think anyone will be interested in gathering a lot of bricks in one color to create a big version of a LEGO brick. Drawing a build on paper? I've never heard of that before, I'm not sure who does that, and the book didn't convince me to start doing it. The chapter on mosaic could be interesting but then in the one example the (author's ?) cat turns into a reject of the pet semetary. I'll pass. The book doesn't offer any advice on how to buy LEGO parts, which is quite unfortunate. There is an attempt to classify parts (the "Brickopedia") which is quite rubbish since, except for the basic bricks, a lot of them have had new versions with different part numbers, some parts have been deprecated and can now only been found at high prices. There are websites that do this work way much better, and keep up to date.I'm not sure if this book is even good for kids, once they've built the one full model, there's nothing much but to look at barely pretty pictures and reading long boring text. This is not going to help them develop their creativity. The only creativity in this book is its title. There is a similarly titled book for LEGO Technic which is worth 10 stars, and that's what I was hoping for in this book for "classic" LEGO building. My 7 year old first checked this book it at the library. He loved it, so we bought him a copy. There book is more like a real text book. It gets into theory and practical aspects of working with bricks. It's also like a reference book, with the Bricopedia and has multiple case studies by way of some specific builds. Oh, the publisher has made the model instructions available on their website (at least as of June 2018, they were still available). Technical book. Not like the current trend of Lego picture books. Great for learning to be creative with using the bricks you have available for making MOCs.
